The club is one of the foremost gubdog clubs in the country and has a national reputation.  Formed in 1970 as the Flintshire Retriever Club, some of the founders are still members today!  The base for the club has always been Gwynsaney Hall near Mold, by kind permission of the late Capt and Mrs Davies=Cooke, both of whom took a great interest in the working retriever, and now his sone Richard continue to support the Clwyd Retriever Club.

We meet for training every week from April until the end of June at Gwysaney Hall.  Classes range from Puppy and Beginner, (where dogs from six months are taught the basic obedience, to stop and come to the whistle and given some simple retrieves) to classes fir Novice and Open standard dogs and their owners.

We run Workings Tests for Puppy, Novice and Open standards.  We take part in Inter-club competitions and run scurries and do demonstrations at country fairs.  We also hold three Field Trials in the year during the shooting season.
